IMHW: Sound Healing
February 24 @ 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm
- This event has passed.
Sound bath therapy (sometimes called a sound bath or sound meditation) is a deeply relaxing, immersive experience where you’re “bathed” in sound waves rather than water. The goal isn’t to do anything—just to lie or sit comfortably and let the sounds wash over you.
Sound bath therapy is based on the idea that:
- Sound vibrations can influence brain waves, encouraging a shift from active (beta) states into calmer alpha or theta states associated with meditation and deep rest.
- Vibrations may help release tension, both physical and emotional, by gently “interrupting” habitual stress patterns.
- The nervous system can downshift, activating the parasympathetic (“rest and digest”) response.
From a scientific angle, much of the benefit is linked to relaxation, mindfulness, and stress reduction, similar to guided meditation—though the sensory immersion is what makes sound baths feel unique.
